Teaching Financial Literacy at McCall School: Financial Literacy Starts Young

On June 7, PCDC partnered with HSBC and its collaborator Junior Achievement to bring a pilot financial literacy day to General A. McCall School.

11 volunteers from HSBC and PCDC gathered from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM to teach 7 classes. The classes ranged from grades 1 through 7. Varying in difficulty across grade levels, classes covered concepts like budgeting, jobs, taxes, and city planning. The volunteers also enjoyed sharing with students their experiences at work and in higher education.

Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. HSBC is
committed to improving financial literacy for all. and PCDC was proud to work with them to bring financial literacy
education to local students.

PCDC would like to thank our volunteers who taught at this event: Can Peng, Hsiao Guh, Serena Li, and Steve Zheng. We look forward to continue to collaborate with local
organizations to bring financial capability resources to our community.
