September Saturday Art Classes with PCDC and AARP

September Saturday Art Classes with PCDC and AARP

Every Saturday in September 2017, artists aged 4 to 80 stopped by 901 Wood Street to enjoy free community art classes sponsored by PCDC and AARP under the “Go, Go, Go…Chinatown” initiative. On September 2nd, students turned themselves into art in our faces of Philadelphia portrait painting class. Candice Lombardi, local comic artist, taught students comic essentials and art journaling for health and wellness on September 9th, and 16th. On September 23rd and 30th, Sharon Ardito, taught art foundations like composition, color theory, and drawing the three kinds of perspective.

Most importantly, friends and neighbors enjoyed the time to get to know each other and learn something fun and new. There will be three more Saturday art classes from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at 901 Wood Street, all themed around Philadelphia and Chinatown: Painting Zodiac Animals on October 7th, Figure and Portrait Painting Essentials on October 14th. Join us also at our “Go, Go, Go…Celebrate Community!” event at 10th Street Plaza on October 28th, where students can enjoy a plein air portrait painting class, see the Chinatown art gallery, share the harvest of the Chinatown Garden Club, pick up free yard trees thanks to Tree Philly, play games, and more.
