亞太裔和太平洋島嶼民傳統月 5月是美國的亞太裔傳統月！我們慶祝許多亞裔美國人和太平洋島嶼民所取得的卓越成就，他們豐富了我們的國家，並幫助定義了我們的歷史。今年，華埠發展會（PCDC）特別略舉了2019年1月29日授予費城人，Harry Jung的特殊榮譽。他被授予國會金質獎章，這是美國國會賦予的最高平民榮譽。他是五人之一中被選代表兩萬多名在二戰期間勇敢服役的華裔退伍軍人，儘管當時普遍存在歧視。二戰期間，Jung在美國海軍服役，並被派往比利時、荷蘭等歐洲國家作戰。 作為華裔美國公民聯盟(C.A.C.A.)發起的一項名為“二戰華裔退伍軍人認可項目”(Chinese American Veterans Recognition Project)的結果，美國眾議院和參議院於2017年通過了《二戰華裔退伍軍人國會金質獎章法案》(Chinese-American World War II Veterans Congressional Gold Medal Act)。该法案要求为二战华裔退伍军人设立并颁发一枚国会金质奖章，以表彰他们的奉献精神。该法案于2018年获得众议院和参议院一致通过，并于去年12月由唐纳德·特朗普总统签署成为法律。
