Chinatown Commercial Corridor
Small Business
PCDC provides support to Chinatown’s small business community through promotion and marketing, as well as one-on-one technical assistance. We promote business events on our social media, newsletter, and website. Our marketing campaigns emphasize Chinatown as a commercial corridor, hub for the celebration of authentic Asian culture, historical neighborhood, and a restaurant destination with a variety of cuisines.
PCDC’s Main Street Program provides technical support and assistance to Chinatown businesses. The Main Street Program conducts one-on-one assistance with business owners to navigate topics such as city-sponsored grants and funding, permitting, marketing and promotions, and trash disposal. Our main street program provides support to Chinatown’s 400+ businesses through economic revitalization and development.
PCDC Events
PCDC collaborates with partners such as Visit Philly, which is the City’s tourist marketing arm, and Franklin Square, on marketing campaigns for events. These may include Chinese New Year, AAPI Heritage Month (May), Chinese Lantern Festival, and YeShi Night Market, which drew 20,000 attendees in 2024 as was named the 4th best cultural festival in the nation by USA Today! At Chinese New Year, PCDC offers cultural activities and hosts lion dances from the Philadelphia Suns.
PCDC continues its well-oiled line-up of events celebrating and promoting the neighborhood. These events includes the Chinatown Night Market, the Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square Park, and the Chinese New Year Festival. These promotions have united our small businesses and encouraged a community-based rather than individual mindset.
Chinatown Night Market is an amazing assortment of citywide and local food vendors and performers. This street fair celebrates the city and Chinatown’s ethnic restaurants and dynamic neighborhoods.
As the lunar calendar turns a new page, the Chinatown community comes together during the Chinese New Year celebration. This cherished annual event, among the highlights of our neighborhood’s calendar, epitomizes the spirit of unity and cultural pride. The Chinese New Year Festival embodies our commitment to celebrating our heritage, supporting local businesses, and fostering a strong sense of community.
"Taking Care of Business" Commercial Corridor Cleaning Program/$1-a-Day Sidewalk Cleaning Program
Since 2011, PCDC has been providing the only street cleaning service for Chinatown’s commercial corridor. With funding from the City of Philadelphia’s “Taking Care of Business” program, the initiative is also partially supported by donations from local businesses and individuals. Our service area includes Chinatown from Filbert Street at the south to Spring Garden Street to the north, and from 8th Street to 13th Streets.
Can you help keep Chinatown clean and green for just $1-a-day? Yes! For just $365 per year ($1 a day), Chinatown businesses and residents can invest in clean streets to bolster Chinatown’s revitalization.
