The January practice SAT will be on January 18, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM – this is NOT the regular schedule because Chinese Lunar New Year falls on January 25th. Location: Crane Center, 1001 Vine Street. Please contact Rosaline at ryang@chinatown-pcdc.org, to reserve a seat.


Kids Can Cook

Kids and Teens are invited to join the Free Library on select Tuesdays at 4:00 PM during the school year (approximately every other week) to help prepare and enjoy a health-conscious meal! All classes are supervised by ServSafe certified chef Keisha Prosser, aka the Mobile Cooking Teacher. This program is free and open to school age (1st-12th grade) kids and teenagers.

Free Play with Wii and Switch!

Come out to the library after school to play with Nintendo Wii and Switches for free! Starting at 4:00 PM Kids can play games like Mario Kart, Labo, Dance Dance Revolution and more.

DIY Zine Workshop

Join the South Philadelphia Library at 4:00 PM on the 2nd Thursday of each month to collage, craft, and create your own zines! A zine is a self-published magazine or mini comic that can be about any topic or interest. You’ll learn about simple folding techniques and design layout, and then have the time, space, and supplies to work on your own creation.

Pop-Up Cooking Classes 2020

Stop by once a month for Keisha Prosser’s Pop-up Mobile Cooking classes. Bringing the fun back into the kitchen! Lessons include: knife skills, team building, cooking and baking principles, food safety, healthy choices, and how to cook with less sugar and salt.  You will enjoy a two-course meal at every class (vegan dishes too)! This program will be held in the meeting room on the library’s third floor and they regret to inform you that there is no elevator.

Self-Care for South Philly | Herbal Tincture Making

Start your year with self-care make and stop by the free library! Herbal Tincture Making: Make medicine from common herbs you can grow at home, or learn about an herb or two you’ve never heard of before. This series is supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Technology Addiction Awareness Scholarship

This scholarship is available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. You must be a U.S. citizen or demonstrate that you are a legal resident and submit a 140-character message that relates to technology addiction to qualify for this award.
