In 2012, PCDC celebrates 46 years of promoting, protecting and preserving Chinatown as a viable ethnic, business and residential community. We are pleased to invite you to partner in our work through our Annual Appeal. We ask you to assist us in serving the community. Please contribute to our organization so that we can continue in our advocacy and direct service efforts to make Chinatown a better place for all. Please send your donation to our office at 301 N 9th Street. We are also accepting donations online at www.chinatown-pcdc.org. Thank you for your interest and support of our community and organization.
Here is a message from our Annual Appeal Co-Chairs Cecilia Moy Yep and Tony Wong.
You can help make a difference in the lives of your friends and neighbors. PCDC, as a non-profit community organization has been serving the Chinatown community for close to 47 years. A gift to PCDC will assist us in continuing our services to preserve, promote, and protect Chinatown as a viable commercial and residential community.
Chinatown is growing. Chinatown’s population experienced a 64% increase between 2000 and 2010 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. As the population grows, the demand and need for our services grow. That’s why we’re coming to you today. We know these difficult economic times are stressful to all of us, but particularly for the people we serve.
Your gift transforms lives and communities. During this past year, PCDC has focused on several priorities, which were defined by you, through our 2010 survey. Our family services and the Chinatown Home-ownership Initiative program have seen increasing numbers of clients since 2007. Our free services have helped to keep many people afloat. During this past year, PCDC helped close to 1000 clients to apply for benefits and referral services. Our Chinatown Home-ownership Initiative placed eleven families into new homes.
Your gift to PCDC will assist us to keep Chinatown clean and attractive. We have built upon the success of our 2010 six-month neighborhood cleaning pilot. The pilot evolved into PCDC’s Main Street $1-a-Day Cleaning Program. This program of “education, enforcement, and cleaning.” has enlisted more than forty donating members and was matched by a Philadelphia Commerce grant.
Now, we are asking for your help. These are difficult economic times; but we do not want to cut back on our services in the community. PCDC is not a government agency and relies on individual donations and grants to support our organization. Please make a financial contribution to us so that we can continue in our advocacy and direct service efforts to make Chinatown a better place for all. We have enclosed an envelope for your convenience and are also accepting donations online at www.chinatown-pcdc.org. Gifts to PCDC which is a non-profit organization are tax deductible.
Your gifts directly impact people daily lives, whether it is a large donation or a more modest one. Thank you for your interest and support of our organization and the community.
