This year’s Spring Cleanup was a huge success, thanks to our many youth volunteers and participation with our various partnering organizations. The annual Philly Spring Cleanup, a program through the Philadelphia Streets Department and UnLitter Us Campaign, encourages communities to host cleanup projects in their own neighborhoods.
PCDC worked with the Chinese Benevolent Association, Chinese American Women’s Sisterhood of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Suns, and Chinese Christian Church & Center on the Chinatown project. With a turnout of more than 250 volunteers, we were able to focus on trash pickup, recycling, weeding, and graffiti removal. In addition, a special project team from NetTel Partners came out to tackle areas with extreme dumping including the triangle at 10th and Ridge and the area around Ridge and Carlton.
Our combined efforts yielded approximately 3,480 pounds of trash and recycling picked up—that’s about ONE AND A HALF TONS OF LITTER off our streets!!!
Thank you and congratulations to all of our hardworking volunteers! Check out our Facebook and Youtube
