January 21st and January 22nd, 2012
Each year in China and Chinatowns all over the world, flower markets are held in during the days leading up to the Lunar New Year. The name of this type of market stems from the tradition of vendors selling various types of flowers including peach blossoms, chrysanthemum, daffodils, and orchids. However, the selection of goods is not limited to flowers. At a flower market you will also find fruits, candies, arts and crafts, and other supplies for the home to bring in the New Year. This year PCDC will host Chinatown’s first Flower Market on January 21st and 22nd from 10a.m. to 4p.m. at the 10th Street Plaza!
The Flower Market will not only bring about nostalgic memories and cul- tural preservation for Chinatown residents, but will also attract visitors from the Greater Philadelphia region and boost business for Chinatown. For vendors this is an excellent opportunity to promote your business and showcase your goods to a broader audience. PCDC hopes that you will become a vendor at the Flower Market. Space is limited.
